Buck and the Preacher (1972)

Sidney Poitier debitirao je kao režiser ovim vesternom, smještenim nakon Američkoga građanskog rata.
Bivši konjički narednik Unije Buck (Sidney Poitier) prijavio se kao pratnja vlaku koji će prevesti netom oslobođene robove u njihov novi dom na zapadu. Pored Buckove supruge Ruth (Ruby Dee), koja neumorno i požrtvovno radi uz bok voljenog supruga, tu je i Propovjednik (Harry Belafonte), bivši rob jednog ministra i gramzljivi prevarant čija je ljubav prema novcu jača od ljubavi prema Bogu.
Mirno putovanje na zapad ovih pionira iznenada osujete sadistički Deshay (Cameron Mitchell) i njegova banda jahača koja je uzela zakon u svoje ruke. Kad ova banda ubojica odluči zadržati bivše robove na jugu kao jeftinu radnu snagu, susret dviju sila preraste u dramatičnu bitku.
