Opis:

Dvanaestogodišnji propovjednik stiže u gradić okružen nepreglednim poljima kukuruza. Naređuje djeci da ubiju sve odrasle u gradiću da bi njihovom krvlju nahranili usjeve. Nakon što je djeci rečeno da ne smiju plesati, pjevati i igrati se te da se na svoj 18. rođendan moraju žrtvovati poljima, neka od njih pokušaju pobjeći, no krvožedni Malachai ih pronađe. Mladi par na proputovanju pronalazi mrtvoga dječaka na cesti te ga donose u naizgled napušteni gradić gdje se sprijateljuju s njegovom prestrašenom sestrom. Ona im pokuša objasniti zlo koje vlada gradom, no uskoro ga i sami doživljavaju. Živi odrasli ljudi nisu dobrodošli u Gatlin te čine sve što je u njihovoj moći da bi živi napustili opsjednuti grad.
