Krakatit (1948)

Priča se vrti oko otkrića snažnog eksploziva, krakatita, iza čega stoji glavni lik filma Prokop. Film se temelji na romanu poznatog češkog pisca Karela Čapeka, koji je među ljubiteljima znanstvena fantastike stekao svjetsku slavu jer je smislio riječ robot, koja se prvi put pojavila u njegovoj drami "R.U.R." 1920.

Redatelj ovog filma, Otakar Vávra, diplomirao je arhitekturu, ali je svoj život posvetio filmu. Bio je osnivač i ravnatelj (1945.-1970.) visoke filmske škole FAMU u Pragu, koja je pod njegovom upravom postala jedna od vodećih u svijetu.
