Vicenza, 1956. Lepa Anna, advokatova supruga, oseća se napuštenom od svog supruga Giacomoa. Žive sa njegovom bolesnom majkom i ona joj se ne sviđa. Ona jako želi da ima dete, ali je neplodna. Veoma je stidljiva i zatvorena. Njihova sobarica, Angela je suprotna, i uspeva da se Anni približi. Ubeđuje Annu da pokuša sa sve smelijim erotskim igrama i postepeno dve žene započinju vezu koja omogućava Annii da izgubi kočnice i da se ponizi.
