Opis:

U kolovozu 1952. obitelj britanskih turista pronađena je brutalno ubijena uz cestu u Provansi. U prilično javnoj istrazi koja je uslijedila mjesni zemljoposjednik, 75-godišnji Gaston Dominici (Jean Gabin), uhićen je zbog ubojstava, nakon što ga prijave njegovi sinovi. Tijekom policijskog ispitivanja Dominici prizna da je ubio britansku obitelj te je izvjesno da će ga optužiti i osuditi na smrtnu kaznu. Ali tada se slučaj počne rušiti. Starac povuče priznanje, a nedostatak dokaza protiv njega postaje očit.
