Opis:
Brazil, 1969. godina. U zemlji je prije pet godina uvedena vojna diktatura protiv koje se građanskim neposluhom, ali i oružanim akcijama bore zagovornici ponovne uspostave demokracije. Među njima je i novinar iz Rio de Janeira Fernando Gabeira (P. Cardoso) koji se pridružuje ljevičarskoj revolucionarnoj skupni MR-8 čiju su članovi i njegov prijatelj Cesar (S. Mello), te jezičava Maria (F. Torres). Njihova akcija pljačke banke uspije, premda vlasti uhite dio članova podvrgnutih torturi pripadnika tajne policije Henriquea (M. Ricca). Sljedeći plan brazilskih revolucionara uključuje otmicu američkog veleposlanika Charlesa Burkea Elbricka (A. Arkin) za čiju slobodu MR-8 zatraži puštanje njihovih suboraca iz zatvora. S otetim Amerikancem zbliži se Fernando Gabeira...
