Opis:

Drama o mladom novinaru koji se u svijetu beskrupulozne konkurencije odlučuje na pokretanje vlastitih novina. U New Yorku 1880-ih godina mladi nezadovoljni novinar Phineas Mitchell (Gene Evans) odlučuje pokrenuti vlastite novine, jer mu je dojadilo da ga beskrupulozno iskorištava njegova poslodavka i vlasnica novina The Star, Charity Hackett (Mary Welch). Mitchell počinje poletno, iskoristivši vijest o muškarcu koji je skočio s Brooklynskog mosta, i odmah postiže uspjeh. Njegov The Globe postaje najveći konkurent The Staru, jer počinje rabiti inovativni linotip, slagaći stroj koji slog lijeva u cijelim redovima, i pokreće kampanju među čitateljima za prikupljanje novčanog fonda kako bi podigli Kip Slobode. Uza sve to, zaljubljen je u svoju rivalku i oponenticu Charita, a ni ona nije imuna na njega.
