Jedna žena i tri muškarca. Nina, mlada djevojka iz provincije i studentica glume, otkriva Pariz. Onaj iz njezinih snova o ljubavi i kazalištu. Vođena instinktom, sama luta naokolo slijedeći svoje slučajne susrete, bilo dobre ili loše. Na svome putu najprije upozna Paulota, jednostavnog činovnika s pouzdanim licem poštenjaka. Zatim je tu Quentin, propali glumac izjeden dramom iz svoje prošlosti. Treća osoba koju upozna je Scrutzler, ukočeni i umorni redatelj. Bez razmišljanja, Scrutzler dodijeli neiskusnoj Nini ulogu Julije u predstavi „Romeo i Julija“...
