16 godina nakon što je 47 ronina ušlo u istoriju osvetivši smrt svog vođe u herojskoj borbi,
a nakon čega su počinili ritualno samoubistvo, jedini preživeli ove tragedije, Kichiemon Terasaka,
putuje zemljom, traži porodice poginulih ratnika i širi istinu u ustanku ronina.
Neočekivano nailazi na svoj starog prijatelja Magozaemona, koji je pobegao dan pre ustanka ronina
i tako izdao svoje drugove. On sad živi duboko u šumi, prerušen u trgovca i štiti tajnu tako veliku
da poteže mač i na svog starog drugara Terasaku...
