Tvrtka koja će jednog dana biti poznata kao DC Comics svoj rad započela je 1934. godine kao National Allied Publications, izdavši prvi originalni strip. Tada, u proljeće 1938. godine, Action Comics predstavili su prvog superjunaka, Supermana. Ostali, sada već kultni junaci, bit će tiskani ubrzo nakon toga. Danas DC Comics tiska preko 80 naslova na mjesec i gotovo 1000 izdanja godišnje te je tako postao najveći i najrasprostranjeniji izdavač stripova na engleskom jeziku.
