Opis:

Antropolog Dennis Alan putuje na Haiti kako bi za farmaceutsku kompaniju istražio i donio narkotik koji u potpunosti anestezira tijelo dok svijest ostaje netaknuta. Supstancu koriste plemena u svojim obredima, a postoji i legenda o živućim mrtvacima-zombijima, ljudima koji su nakon kliničke smrti i pokopa oživjeli. U potrazi mu pomaže doktorica Marielle Duchamp te ubrzo oboje postanu okruženi voodoo ritualima, nadrealnim iskustvima i mračnim ljudima različitih interesa.
The Serpent and the Rainbow horor je s elementima trilera jednog od najvećih majstora horora Wesa Cravena ( The Hills Have Eyes, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream 1, 2, 3, 4..) inspiriran istoimenom knjigom kanadskog antropologa Wada Davisa koji je na Haitima proučavao slučajeve ponovnog oživljavanja nakon pokapanja. Kroz magijske rituale koji osim različitih supstanci obilno koriste moć podsvijesti i straha Craven nam daje odgovor na ovaj fenomen koji nije fikcija već stvarnost zabilježena na domorodačkom otoku. Glavnu ulogu Craven je povjerio Billu Pullmanu koji svojom glumom neodoljivo podsjeća na Indianu Jonesa dok je ulogu doktorice Duchamp dodijelio Cathy Tyson koja nam je inače poznata po ulozi Simone, lijepe prostitutke u filmu Mona Lisa.
