Opis:

Pisac Graves (Tim Curry) sreće svog junaka Charlesa Crossleyja (Alan Bates) na utakmici kriketa između stanovnika sela i štićenika obližnje psihijatrijske bolnice. Charles Crossley se ističe igračkom sposobnošću i izrazitom osobenošću koja odaje utisak inteligentnog lutalice. Iako očito poremećen, Crossley sugestivno priča odogodovštinama svog života, i veštinama među kojima se posebno ističe ubijanje krikom. Tim pričama uspeva manipulisati slušaocima, posebno muzičarem Anthonyjem (John Hurt) i njegovom suprugom Rachel (Susannah York), što vodi do dokaza da ubijanje krikom nije izmišljeno. To će pak ostaviti nedoumice jesu li i ostale Crossleyeve priče lažne.
