Dečak Jim Hawkins jednog dana u krčmi upozna starog morskog vuka, kapetana Billy Bonesa, kojeg progone gusari da bi se domogli mape skrivenog blaga koje je na jednom pustom ostrvu sakrio kapetan Flint. Kada Billy umre, dečak u njegovim stvarima pronađe mapu i pokaže je gradskom sudiji, a onda organizuju potragu za blagom.
