Zen (2009)

'Zen' Buddhist teacher Dogen Zenji is a very important religious person during the Kamakura period, 750 years ago. After his mother died, he decides to move to China and settle as a Buddhist teacher. One bright morning, enlightened, Zenji returns to Japan as a devoted evangelist of the 'new' Buddhism. However, this new form of Buddhism is not accepted in all communities.

Opis:
Film prati život Dogen Zenđi-a (1200 — 1253) on je bio japanski filozof i učitelj zen budizma. Smatra se osnivačem soto ogranka u japanskom zen budizmu, sa središtem u hramu Eiheiđi u provinciji Ečizen. Sve budističke škole mu ukazuju poštovanje kao bodisatvi. Dogen je bio plemenitog porekla, i ostao je siroče u svojoj sedmoj godini. Zaredio se 1213. godine, a otputovao u Kinu 1223. i tamo se posle dugog traganja prosvetlio pod vodstvom čuvenog učitelja č'ana Ju-činga. Vratio se u Japan 1227. godine. Pod njegovim rukovodstvom je 1236. podignut je prvi potpuno nezavisni zen manastir, Košohoringđi. Dogen je u njega privukao mnoge nadarene učenike, zajedno sa brojnim svetovnjacima, kako muškarcima tako i ženama. Dogen je podučavao da suština čoveka i svih stvari leži u Budinoj prirodi, koja se ostvaruje pročišćavanjem ega, odstranjivanjem svih sebičnih želja i potpunim odricanjem od sopstva, iznad svega ukazujući prednost religioznoj praksi. Negovao je praksu zazena, uspravnog sedenja sa prekrštenim nogama u meditaciji. U zazenu je video ostvarenje čitavog zakona budizma, pošto je jedinstvo prakse i prosvetljenja ukorenjeno u Budinoj prirodi.
